Michael Szelest, P.E., S.I., is a Licensed Professional Engineer with a track record built on technical expertise, hands-on field experience, and a real commitment to doing the work right. Based in Fort Myers, Florida, he has spent his career in civil engineering consulting, taking on increasingly complex projects and leadership responsibilities. He brings the same standard of care to a commercial high-rise as he does to advising the next generation of engineers.
Michael serves as Branch Manager at ECS Florida, LLC, part of the ECS Limited family of companies, one of the most respected engineering consulting firms in the country.
He joined Engineering Consulting Services in July 2020 , starting as Assistant Staff Project Manager, and working his way up to Project Manager, then Assistant Branch Manager, and finally to Branch Manager by 2024. He has shown consistent results managing geotechnical engineering, materials testing, and structural inspection work across 250+ projects—including some of the area’s most high-profile commercial developments.
Today, Michael oversees day-to-day operations of the Fort Myers branch. He manages project delivery, client relationships, and staff development across a range of civil engineering consulting services.
Leadership, for Michael, isn't just a title. It's something you demonstrate through the people around you. His focus extends well beyond project outcomes. He is highly dedicated to the professional development of the engineers and inspectors he works alongside, helping them build the skills, confidence, and technical foundation they need to grow within the civil engineering consulting industry.
In his own words: "My career goals are to continue to mentor and develop young staff and facilitate their professional development within the civil engineering consulting industry. Watching your staff develop before your eyes is the most rewarding part of my job."
That perspective shapes how he leads, builds his team, and approaches his work at ECS Florida, LLC every day.
Michael's technical work spans geotechnical engineering, structural inspections, and special inspections across the commercial construction field. His certifications cover all major material types and inspection categories, and his field experience includes some of the largest and most complex projects the region has seen in recent years.
